Nectar & Stone x Deitea

Creative Director of Nectar and Stone, with a global audience exceeding 330K on social media platforms, a book in the works, features on Martha Stewart and collaborations with Mimco and West Elm to name a few, we sat down to chat with Caroline Khoo, about her career and pushing creative boundaries.

Hi Caroline, thank you for taking the time to chat with us. Lets begin with what inspired you to start Nectar & Stone?

N & S wasn’t planned or intended. It really is a collection of things that I have experienced and loved from my past – food, art and fashion – all the industries that I have worked in.

When I had my first son and couldn’t secure part time work with the company I was working in, I found myself being more and more creative with my 1 year old – especially around food as Isaiah my son, was really fussy. Over time, it became evident to my family, friends and to myself that the creative way in which I looked at food was different and unique. So with a little push from my husband Nick and 6 months deliberating on whether I should do it – I decided to take the plunge and give myself 1 year to make it work. We celebrate 3 years on July 1st.

What are your 3 top tips for budding entrepreneurs?

1. Know your products

2. Know your target audience

3. Be true to who you are and connect with likeminded people in the business which don’t need to be in the same area of business as you are.

So what’s next for Nectar & Stone?

Currently working on my first book and lots of secret projects that will be revealed all in good time!

When is your favourite part of the day?

The morning. I love waking up ready to tackle new ideas, create new content, hugs from my 2 little boys and husband who always brings me coffee in bed.

How do you like your tea, whats your favourite Deitea Blend?

My favourite Deitea blend is the Jardin De Fleurs. I like the blend of rose and pineapple infused through the green tea and served with vanilla bean macaron. I love that this tea can be enjoyed during the day or after dinner. It is very soothing and balanced.
